Somatic Therapy for liberation and healing

“The alliance between patient and therapist develops through shared work...
it is a relationship of existential engagement, in which both partners commit themselves to the task of recovery.”
~ Judith Herman, Trauma and Recovery

Individual Therapy Online: How I work

My goal as a therapist is to support you in your healing journey. Your path towards healing is unique to you, and my part as a Somatic Therapist is to facilitate your explorations through the cultivation of inner resources while offering clear and actionable steps towards change.

My approach to therapy is relational. That is, I share the belief that human connection, and the relationships you have with yourself and others, are central to this work.

I also consider the context of your life experiences as a foundational aspect of the work we do together. The external structures of society, culture, privilege/oppression, power, family dynamics, and more, are omnipresent, and often unconsciously internalized.

I find great value and healing potential in acknowledging, assessing, and responding to these external and internalized influences in therapy. Social justice principles and liberation psychology are foundational to my clinical approach, and I choose to hold space in therapy for the intersectionality of our experiences.

As a Somatic Therapist, I also provide a body-oriented approach to therapy. Engaging with your body in therapy can have many benefits, such as reducing stress, tension, PTSD symptoms, and more.

In my experience, somatic exploration in a therapeutic setting offers access to a deeper understanding of challenging thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior. Recognizing the cues, sensations, and perceptions of your body is a way for you to have more clarity and insight about your lived experiences. I am inclusive of all body shapes, sizes and abilities in my practice, and am aligned with the 10 Principles of Disability Justice and Health at Every Size®.
